One-Year Limited Warranty through Panasonic
Amazon has the option of a 2-Year or 3-Year Protection
This bread machine is either loved or despised. Loved, because of the quality of bread it makes, the many different sizes and types of bread that it offers, and special features such as the 13 hour timer delay, a beep to indicate it is time to pour any add-ins you would like, a 10 minute power failure feature, and an auto yeast dispenser. Despised, because customers who had a machine that wasn’t working properly had to deal with the Panasonic customer service. Many negative reviewers explain their horrible experiences of waiting on the phone, trying to find a place that will repair the machines, not getting them returned in a timely manner, receiving a machine that still does not work, etc. It’s enough to turn many potential buyers away.
If you are thinking about buying this bread machine, I would strongly advise you get it through Amazon. I believe they have a 30 day refund period. You may also buy a 2-Year or 3-Year Amazon Protection plan. This bread machine does have a 1 Year Limited Warranty through Panasonic, and you may not be able to use the Amazon protection plan until this warranty is up, but once the first year is done, you may return the bread machine to Amazon in exchange for an Amazon gift card with the protection plan.
There are a few more things I would like to point out. First of all, this bread machine does not have a window. This may help with even heating, but many people find this frustrating because then they cannot check on the status of the dough or bread.
Another thing is this bread machine’s “rest” cycle. This machine warms the ingredients to the correct temperature before it begins. This is nice so that you don’t have to warm the ingredients yourself. However, some people find this feature frustrating because it is not optional. This could result in a bit longer bread making process than with other bread machines.
A unique feature to this bread machine is the automatic yeast dispenser. The bread machine will release the yeast at the correct time of the bread making cycle. However, use caution when cleaning this dispenser. If it is at all wet, the yeast may be activated before it is supposed to be. Also, if you wipe it with a dry cloth right before using it, the static may cause not all of the yeast to fall.
The Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker is towards the higher end of bread machines. With its sturdy outside and thick pan, it is able to create many types of bread. It has 3 different size options and 18 different settings to choose from. The automatic yeast dispenser sets it apart from other bread machines. Although it is on the higher end, it does not have any custom settings and does not have a “Pause” button which can be frustrating for more experienced bread makers. When the bread machine is operating how it is supposed to and the recipes are followed precisely, this machine takes care of most of the work. If you are looking for a bread machine that you can put in the ingredients and just press start, this machine may be for you. However, I want to reiterate the problems that previous customers have had with the Panasonic customer service. If you are brave enough to give it a try, I highly recommend buying this machine from Amazon with Amazon’s added protection.
